Delta, Northwest, and Continental to Share Airport Lounges

In another move to make the mainline airlines more appealing to the corporate customer, members of Northwest’s WorldClubs, Continental’s Presidents Club and Delta’s Crown Room Club  will be allowing each others customers to use their lounges. This overlapping of service will be beneficial to the most profitable customers of the airlines. The new arrangement will go into effect on December 1st, 2005.

The airlines will give club members access to about 90 lounges in cities including London, Tokyo and Los Angeles. The accord supplements an existing partnership in which the carriers jointly sell tickets for some flights. The lounges provide flight assistance, free beverages, workstations, conference rooms and other amenities.

Airline customers typically gain access to the lounges by flying a certain number of miles with an airline each year or by paying for membership. Delta Crown Room Club members must fly at least 40,000 miles annually with the Atlanta-based carrier or pay at least $250 annually. via AJC
