Discount Travel Sites Offering Last Minute Deals

If you waited to the last minute to book your travel to see Mom and Dad, there are still some deals out there. Priceline, Hotwire, and CheapTickets.com have some good deals as the airlines try to dump unused seats at the last minute, while keeping prices high on thier websites.

Some examples, but remember, check often as these deals come and go quickly. Via Yahoo News

Priceline.com: In a recent check, the most attractive travel deals on this site were round-trip offers from Delta Air Lines.

Fares between Atlanta and New York City were $175; between Boston and Las Vegas, $205; and between Los Angeles and New York, $245.

Bookings had to be made by Thursday for travel three days in advance and completed by Jan. 1. The fares are nonrefundable, and the only blackout date is Friday. A minimum two-night stay is required.

CheapTickets.com: Some of the best deals on this site are from United Airlines.

A $242 round-trip fare between Boston and San Francisco, for instance, is good for travel on Christmas Day, Dec. 29-31, and on New Year’s Day.

There’s also a Washington, D.C.-Phoenix round trip for $303, and a Washington, D.C.-Los Angeles round trip listed for $323. These fares, as well as numerous others, require a one-day stay-over.

Hotwire.com: This site does not list air carriers by name. Instead, you enter the cities you’d like to fly between and the dates you’re interested in.

After you buy your ticket, the details of the flight and its carrier are revealed.

On Monday, Hotwire had several attractive fares listed. They included trips between Philadelphia and Dallas for $275; between Los Angeles and Newark, $327; and Austin and Chicago, $213. With some exceptions, these bargain fares are more likely to be in effect on Dec. 24, Dec. 29 and Dec. 31.
